Location
I took this photo in South Africa, in Madikwe nature park.Time
late afternoon, almost time to go home. The golden light at this time is enchanting.Lighting
This was an unexpected encounter. So - no time to think, just react..Equipment
Canon 1Dx , Canon EF 100 - 400mmm. No tripod, no flashInspiration
It is always very interesting to watch the wild animals on a Safari trip. And honestly, you take, what you get. If it is an Impala, or a small bird. They are all so beautiful. For sure it is a joy to find one of the big five ! Just watch out and stay attentiveEditing
Postprocessing reduced to the minimal. Contrast, sharpen - that's it.In my camera bag
Two Cameras with two different lenses. The one for landscapes ( 16 - 35 mm ), the other for animals (100- 400mm )Feedback
Try to carry as I do two cameras. It is not very good to change lenses in Africa. Too much dust. And for me a tele with zoom. I had once the 400 mm/f 2,8 with me. When the animals came towards me - the best situation you can get - they finally had been too close. And the very expensive lens was worthless...
