Location
I took this photograph near my parents' house in a wood at Pinheiro da Bemposta, Portugal.Time
I really enjoy walking and exploring new places. This photo was taken during a walk I was having with my father on an autumn's morning.Lighting
I always try to photograph with natural light when possible. In this case I had an excellent opportunity to photograph with the best light we can have. However there were many highlights from the sun rays and shadows from the dark forest environment. I had to do exposure bracketing to ensure a full range of tones for editing at home (HDR was what I had thought at the time). The sun rays where very intense because of the presence of a little river that runs on the area, and that created a misty ambience.Equipment
This photo was one of my first great photos, and one that even today I have not made another one so magical. For this photo I just used a Canon 350D, with a 18-55 II, using a velbon tripod and a remote cable. Sometimes we don't need fancy stuff to make great images.Inspiration
The sun rays breaking through the trees, where like a call to me, and had compel me to capture this scene.Editing
This photo was an hdr, that I made on Photomatix and then had it fine tuned on Lightroom. Some of the adjustments where contrast, color adjustments, sharpness, noise reduction and CA removal. I tried to adjust the image to avoid the typical HDR look, and maintain the photo natural. In my camera bag
I carry most of the time all my lenses, filters, two yn speedlights, cable remote, extension tubes and most important my camera, a Canon 7D. The lenses are: tokina 11-16 2.8, sigma 17-50 2.8, canon 100mm macro, canon 70-210 f4 and an helios 44m.Feedback
Every place and every trip could be a potential photographic oportunity, so stay sharp to get it! Sometimes a great moment of light is the best that you need, so don't worry that much with your gear, because although it helps, it's your vision and the feeling of the scene that maters the most. Finaly, enjoy the moment and the show that mother nature gives to us! The best thing that a photo can give to you, beside of the memories of when you have taken it, is an history, an experience and good feelings!!
