Portland Head Light is one of America's most well known coastal icons. Invariably, whenever I head up to Maine, we make it a point to stop.

On this particular trip, on our way back from a camping trip further north, we hit a thunderstorm as we came in to the Portland area. Then we saw the rainbow!… And at sweet light time!! And I knew where we had to go… Fast!… We were still about ten minutes out from South Portland, park with the light… Arrived, jumped out of car, grabbed camera and tripod, and started shooting. This one was toward the end of the rainbow, so it's pretty subtle.

Experimented a bit with Photoshop and Photomatix to give it an exaggerated warm Kodachohrome sort of retro feel.
