Location
I took this photo in Berchtesgaden National Park - Bavaria, on beautiful Obersee lake (last water-taxi station of Konnigsee lake).Time
It was afternoon, around 16:30pm when I discovered this pearl of nature. I had only few minutes before last water taxi sail away from this paradise. which was aprox. 500 meters away from this spot, so I had to ran back.Lighting
It was cloudy, rainy day, perfect for this shot, cause, light was diffused. It was a little harder to took pictures of "Berchtesgaden paradise" from water taxi, due to wind and rain, but, at the end it was worth it.Equipment
It was around 15:15h, and I didn't had much time, since last water taxi was returning in 17:00h, so... I left my photo bag in the car, and took only my Canon 1Dx, with Canon EF 24-105L f4.0 IS USM borrowed from my friend. Because of water taxi, I thought, all my shots would be from the boat, so I won't be needing tripod, and polarizing filter... That was a mistake. I was very wrong. BRING ALL THIS... AND MORE!Inspiration
Berchtesgaden National Park is one BIG inspirational place, I was stunned with it's beauty.Editing
Since I'm shooting in raw only, I had to play a little, and "draw" all the details using Lightroom and PS. I used brush in LR for selective correction of different part of this picture, in order to preserve details in dark areas, and not to loose same in light ones. When you shoot nature in raw, be prepared for corrections and improvement in post production. In my camera bag
I carry my Canon 1Dx, EF 16-35L II f2.8 IS USM for wide angle shots, EF 70-200L f2.8 II IS USM in combo with Canon EF 2x III extender for some zoom shots, Canon flash 600EX RT. I bring extra battery for 1Dx, and some batteries for 600 EX-RT, B+W circular polarizing and ND filters, flash light... That's pretty much it.Feedback
Check your equipment before your visit nature. Tripod and filters is a must have, even if you think you won't be needing them - BRING THEM !!! Walk around the place you want to capture, in order to find best angle and composition for the shot. Bring umbrella (for rain, not for photo shooting) with you all the time (put it in your tripod bag). If you want to experiment with light painting, don't forget to bring your flash light with color gels. When you find the place you want to capture, experiment with different exposures, try HDR, use bracket mode with 3, 5, 7 exposures, the more the marrier. Try different angles of the same subject. And... at the end... don't forget to enjoy in wonderful sight.
