Location
There is a wildlife sanctuary in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area in Kentucky. The gates open at sunrise and on this day I was the first person there. As I drove around the first thing I saw were the antlers over the hill coming out from a deep valley. I waited as the elk reached the top of the crest and looked right at me.Time
Sunrise on 11.24.23Lighting
Late Autumn, early morning is my personal favorite time of the year and day. there are heavy wooded areas that defused the light and allowed "stings" of brightness to shoot through- the lens on my Sony A7 III added a cool effect as it kissed the glass.Equipment
Sony A7 III with 200-600mm lensInspiration
I went to Montana last year to capture an elk hunt. Ever since, I've been going to this location to get a photo I've seen in my head since my trip. As an artist, I see most of the my photos in my head before I ever hit the capture button on my camera.Editing
I did, I used Lightroom to bring out highlights and and flare of the sun. Also softened the image with the orten effect. In my camera bag
I always have my two lenses the Sony 24-70mm and 200-600mm. The two cameras are my Sony A7III and Sony A7RIV. The RIV takes great landscapes and them III is the favorite for wildlife. I also always have my DJI Mini Pro 3 at hand.Feedback
Patience. This took many trips and attempts. Hopefully others will get lucky quicker!
