"Such a spectacular collection of images to survey! Kudos to the Photographers who submitted their delightful, heartwarming works. Thank you for allowing me the joy of relishing the love you've captured.
As I pored over the entries on justlove, I asked myself 2 questions:
1. How does this image make me feel?
2. How well is it executed?
And as I considered the entries repeatedly, 2 words kept coming to my mind: "connectedness" and "timeless." I especially enjoyed the images where the subjects were BOTH engaged with the other (MUTUAL connectedness)." - Bill Ramsey
A special thanks to our friend and professional photographer Bill Ramsey for his collaboration as a guest judge in this photo contest. Bill Ramsey is led by curiosity. It has brought him into ministry, photography, writing, speaking, sales, entrepreneurship and more. Through it all, he is a helper. A seeker. Bill listens to stories – and has a few of his own to share. He tells the best ones to his first girlfriend (now wife of 16 years) around the breakfast table in Canton, Georgia, with their three equally curious kids. He enjoys cigars and red wine. He brushes his hair with a safety razor. Bill has been a portrait photographer for 15 years, is Executive Producer of The Fireside Network, and host of The PhotoTellers podcast.
"To me, this image is a study in well-executed contrasts. I enjoy the enormity of the scene in comparison to the couple. The barrenness of the trees on the hill, coupled with the clouds, create a sense of foreboding mystery. Almost chaos. Contrasting this is the simplicity of the couple together, and the clean, solid lines of the walkway. The couple, the walkway, and the "heaviness" of the blacks provide a visual foundation that supports the theme of the image. Great job keeping the highlights throughout the clouds. Fantastic title. Great decision to render this B&W." - Bill Ramsey
"This was a very close second place to the Grand Prize. Spectacular capture with the mid-tones well-rendered. The girl's expression is perfect. I'm glad you showcased this image instead of one with her eyes open. I like the subtlety of her hand on the dog, and the bicycle wheel in the background. Most of all, I like the dog's protective pose. " - Bill Ramsey
