This was quite a demanding climb. We've decided to go up Husfjellet in Senja, Norway in January, which meant a temperature of -26 degrees and dee by simonmigaj

Behind The Lens

Location

This image was captured at my home studio, which is basically a ‘super size man-shed’ that I built back in 2016.

Time

This photo shoot took place at mid day, but because I was indoors and controlling the light, I could have shot it at any time.

Lighting

Very, very basic, just how I like it. One gridded strip box placed to my left and one light to my right with a home made paper mask to imitate a window/blind on a plain grey paper backdrop.

Equipment

Shot with my D800 and nifty 50mm, lights are Elinchrom D-lite’s, cheap, basic and effective.

Inspiration

I scouted EmLee and suggested she work on some sport related images.

Editing

I love post processing, but it’s very time consuming and can make images look fake. So I just tend to make adjustments in RAW and clean up any blemishes in Ps.

In my camera bag

All Nikon cameras, usually my D800 or D850 and always one of my Z models. Speed lights, triggers, various lenses and all the essentials.

Feedback

Honestly, just go for it!!! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, break some photography rules and have fun, because none of us are perfect, we just have a little bit of luck every now and then when it all just ‘clicks’.
