In the 1960s, the outdoor art work Heimskautsgerðið was planned in the remote village of Raufarhöfn in north-east Iceland and built from 2002 to 2016. The work of art is often compared to Stonehenge and is therefore also known as the "Arctic Henge". So far I had left out this corner of the country on my Iceland trips, but I had to go once. Even if the arctic stone circle has no historical background, it develops its own magic in interaction with the northern lights.
