An invasive European starling sits on a phone line with a misty mountain in the background. The serenity of the scene belies the fact that starlings wreak havoc on native songbird populations. Starlings have figured out that their eggs look similar enough to Robin eggs that they can push the Robin eggs out of the nest and lay their own so that the unsuspecting Robins rear someone else's chick's. Meanwhile, the Starlings raise their own brood, increasing their own population while decreasing their competition.
