While walking across a frozen lake in Yellowstone National Park, this subadult male grizzly broke through the ice, beginning a five-minute, adrenaline-filled battle to claw itself out of the icy water and onto the shelf to safety. Thankfully, the bear pulled itself out and lived another day to challenge the formidable elements of Yellowstone NP. This one-in-a-lifetime event serves as a reminder that nature is unrelenting and unbiased.
