Behind The Lens

Location

This photo taken at Sunset Falls on the East Fork Lewis River outside Yacolt WA

Time

This is just a short walk from the main road near the campground. It was early afternoon on a typical overcast rainy day in Washington.

Lighting

Had to time everything correctly to get the sunlight coming in before it got blocked by all of the trees

Equipment

I used my Canon 6D Mark II with the 24-105mm lens.

Inspiration

I had been trying to find the right area to get a photo like this. Spent a lot of time wandering through the woods of Oregon and Washington

Editing

Yes, I did a simple 2 layer stack. Photo one was a high speed shot to get the crispness of the foreground and trees and then a long exposure to get the water. Had a little help with a ND adjustable filter

In my camera bag

I bought this Canon Mark II kit about 5 years ago and have used basically that for everything. I do carry a 50mm prime lens and a 150- 600mm Tamron telephoto.

Feedback

Oregon and Washington have so many opportunities to get some amazing photos. You can spend the morning getting a sunrise over the high desert and then the sunset on the coast with mountains and forest in between the two.
