Osprey land on platforms built for their nesting on Bald Head Island during sunrise. Ospreys are a conservation success story. The popular insecticide DDT was ingested by fish then the Osprey ate the fish. Their numbers declined dramatically. In 1972 DDT was banned and the Osprey bounced back.
