Location
This photo was taken while out hiking at Mt. Rainier National Park.Time
This photo was taken in the early morning in late September 2021.Lighting
We had an exceptionally dry summer and there were a record number of wildfires. One of the largest fires was burning nearby. The smoke from the fire led to some very unique and spectacular colors and lighting.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 5D mark II with a 28-135mm lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I came around a bend in the trail and this was the view I was treated to. It was incredible.Editing
Post processing was minimal. Shadows were lightened slightly to accommodate for the back lighting. In my camera bag
My equipment is minimal when I am hiking. Usually my Canon Mark II 5D, 28-135mm lens, sometimes a 75-300mm lens and a GoPro 9 for video.Feedback
Pay attention to weather conditions as they can change suddenly. I prefer early morning or late afternoon for autumn landscape photography. Timing is everything when trying to capture the best lighting.
