Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my garden. I was given this orchid from a friend when it was full of scale and near dead. As you can see I managed to treat it and bring it back to glorious life. It rewards me with its beautiful flower stalks every year.

Time

The time of day I took this photo was early evening around twilight on a balmy summer evening.

Lighting

The only thing worth sharing about lighting is that I find twilight on a calm evening is a great time to take photo's. It's usually still and the fading light enhances natural colors.

Equipment

Equipment used was my bottom of the range Samsung phone :) I have a Cannon and a Pentax SLR as well.

Inspiration

I was inspired to take this photo by the sheer beauty and perfect individual blooms of my orchid. Plus the fact my orchid survived and flourished making me quite pleased with our joint effort.

Editing

Post processing was to remove the background as the plant is outside next to the house which isn't that attractive. My orchid blooms deserved better.

In my camera bag

The only equipment I normally have in my my bag is my trusty Samsung mobile phone which I always carry. It's very handy for Snapping the unexpected.

Feedback

My advice is to snap anything and everything you find worthy, you may be surprised at the results and any imperfections can usually be adjusted or enhanced in post production processing if necessary. Also take many photos and pick the best.
