Location
I am located in the North West U.K. and I captured this portrait in my home studio, which I purpose built after not being able to find a suitable studio to rent.Time
The model arrived at around 10:am and we began shooting around 10:30am after we'd discussed styles and options.Lighting
This was shot entirely using natural light from a big window I have on the front of my studio. I used some home made V-Boards to direct the light onto the model and to create a nice clean backdrop. My window has a blind fitted, which I pulled down slightly to crate a vignette effect at the top of the background.Equipment
I captured this image handheld with my Nikon D850, no other equipment besides the home made V-Boards were used.Inspiration
The model is a professional dancer and most of her images are captured whilst shes a show girl on stage. I wanted to give her something different, an image that shed perhaps never even think about capturing, one that showed her in deep thought and away from all the glitz of the stage lights using nothing but natural light to encapsulate her beauty.Editing
No, I wanted this image to be as natural as possible, in camera raw I will have sharpened the image and added some skin tone only, but bo actual Ps or editing work was required. In my camera bag
I shoot entirely with Nikon cameras and I use a D800/D850/Z6. I usually carry around 5 or so Nikon lenses, but I do like to take several Sigma Art lenses t give me some option when shooting cinamatic scenes.Feedback
Think about giving your subject a style theyve never even considered before, because in my experience it excites them and it makes them want to work with you a lot more. So have fun, be original and dont be afraid to try new styles or techniques.
