The Bisti Badlands region of northwestern New Mexico features some the most impressive collections of hoodoos and rock formations in the Western United States. The challenge for a photographer is not locating a subject but sorting through the plethora of image options. This feature, set against a rough cliff area, struck me. The capped formation struck me as a ruling figure, robe flowing in the wind, surveying the region.

This black and white photographic image makes for an excellent statement piece of art, especially for those who love the rugged outdoors of the American West.
