Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in the woods near me where I walk with the dogs. They were felling trees and there were a couple of big trunks just by the side of the path waiting to be stacked. I asked my girl to jump up on them and lie down in a place where in the background were these beautiful colours. In this photo she's looking to the side. She's actually looking at my two other dogs mucking about but I loved the faraway daydreaming look she had in this moment.

Time

It was in the afternoon on a bright but cloudy day

Lighting

This was taken in quite an open area but luckily it was overcast so the light was nice and soft.

Equipment

Nikon D3s with a Nikon 135mm f2.

Inspiration

I love photographing dogs in nature. Sometimes you can capture a wonderful moment and the next trip to the woods the landscape has changed again. It makes these moments so unique and magical.

Editing

The post processing on this was pretty minimal. Just a little work on the green hues in the background and a quick cleanup of any small bits of debris in my girls fur.

In my camera bag

Nikon D3S, Nikon 80-300mm f2.8, Nikon 135mm f2.0, Nikon 14-24 f2.8 and a lot of dog treats!
