Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in my home studio. I used my Godox lighting and a smoke machine.

Time

This was taken at 1:30pm, We shot a number of sets that day and it was a long session.

Lighting

The important thing about the lighting was the backlighting of the smoke.

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon 5D mk4 with a 24-105mm set at 80mm. The smoke machine and chainmail hoods were the other key ingredients.

Inspiration

I planned this shot well in advance. I had seen the use of a chainmail hood with very striking models and I felt Hannah was the right choice to make this work. All elements of the image were planned ahead of time.

Editing

The main processing was the B&W conversion and the sparkle on the swords which were added in post.

In my camera bag

I have a lot of equipment in my home studio so there is an array of lenses, lighting and props for me to chose from/

Feedback

The key to this shot is in the Models expression. Without that this really doesn't work. When you are wearing a chainmail hood you really have to own it and not be self conscious. Hannah looks very confident and a touch mischievous in this which I liked.
