Thank you :)

Interesting, high tension feel by positioning model against this edge. Likely could present a number of possibilities to print advertising with large negative space. However, the small bit of her thigh at the corner seems disjointed and disconnected from the rest of her body without enough hip showing.

Agree with "travldon"; something wrong with cropping or ...original shot

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken on the indoor patio in my house in Johannesburg, South Africa. I am a self-taught hobby photographer who truly enjoys taking portrait photos. I believe I still have lots to learn, and I am constantly working on improving my photography skills and editing abilities.

Time

This was one of my favourite days, waking up to the excitement and smell of crisp fresh air at 6am. Usually our Spring season only starts a bit later in the year, however that day it felt the season of joy came early. The sun was shining, it was not too warm, nor was it too cold. The weather was perfect. With positive emotions and exhilaration, this photo was taken at 11:53am.

Lighting

I prefer natural lighting, the shoot took place on my indoor patio in front of the opened stacked glass doors where lots of natural sun-light made its way into the designated area.

Equipment

This photo was shot with my Canon EOS M50 camera, EF-M15-45mm lens. Aperture 4/1 ISO 100 Shutter 1/80 Focal Length 24/1 Besides some background Coffee House music playing on a speaker (to set the mood), no other equipment was used.

Inspiration

This shot captures a minimalistic point of view on the introspection of age and beauty. The negative space and subtle colours portray the nuances of growing older and embracing new phases of beauty that life has to offer. This image inspires me to appreciate every moment and every aspect of my life.

Editing

I wanted to keep the photo looking natural, however I cropped the photo slightly and adjusted the temperature, shadows, whites and black tones in Lightroom Classic CC. With this post-editing process, the background tone on the photo became slightly more blue and the flower textures on the apparel showcased to be more prominent bringing out a supplemental holistic ambience to the theme.

In my camera bag

In my bag you will always find my Canon EOS M50 camera with the following lenses: Canon EF-M22mm (for macro shots), EF-M15-45mm (for portrait shots) and EF-S55-250mm (for wildlife shots). In addition to this, the camera battery charger, an extra memory stick, tripod and a lens cleaner brush are in my bag.

Feedback

Explore the use of natural lighting and finish the photo with editing and post-processing. Composition and emotion play a huge role in creating the sheer storytelling and ideal portrait. Set the mood, play some background music, work in a couple of laughs and just have fun.
