A walk in the forest during thick fog. A friend encouraged me to go to the forest in foggy conditions using a polarizing filter. Worked out well. This is pretty much unedited color wise. Just some contrast and saturation. Beech trees and orange leaves everywhere.

This photo was taken in a beech forest near my home. This forest is attractive all year but I think fall is the most special season for its orange and red colours.Time
Foggy conditions do have their benefits. As there was no glowing sunrise to be had that morning, I could enjoy a relaxed breakfast with my familiy and start my photo walk in the forest afterwards. So this photo was shot somewhere in the middle of the morning after I found this nice group of trees with some yellow leaves for contrast.Lighting
It's definitely the fog that made the lighting so special. Half way through the morning with a hint of the sun behind the trees, the light was evenly diffused.Equipment
I made this photograph with a Nikon D850 which I had just bought before and put it on a tripod. I used a 16-35 wide angle lens and a polarizing filter which made the colours pop.Inspiration
I never thought it would be a good idea to take landscape photos during fog as I considered it to be bad conditions. A friend encouraged me to give it a try with a polarizer. Light is perfectly even and chances are, light rays can be caught when you're around fog line.Editing
This picture needed just minor post processing as lighting condigtions were even and the polarizer made the colours pop. I added a hint of contrast to the dominant tree trunk and a little saturation to the leaves on the trees in the foreground. In my camera bag
As I'm mainly focused on sports and action motifs, my go-to camera is a Nikon D5 with uses to be paired with a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens and a black rapid shoulder strap. I always have a 14-24mm and a 24-70 mm lens in the bag, too. Either of them gets paired with my second camera, the D850.Feedback
The main thing is to go out into the nature even the light seems to be dull. Forests have a unique atmosphere in foggy, hazy or rainy conditions. A polarizing filter helps to filter the glare off the leaves.
