This photo was taken at the British Wildlife Centre, I’m a self taught photographer who’s main passion is wildlife. My children bought me a photography day at the centre for my birthday and the harvest mice really did come out on top for me.Time
This image was taken around 11am in the morningLighting
Although being taken mid morning, this shot was taken under a lot of trees which gave speckled light and dark areas, changing my position to get the light behind me really helped to capture the beauty of this tiny little creatureEquipment
This was shot with my Canon 77D, I was using my 18-200mm lens as I did not own a macro lens at the time. Handheld and no flash.Inspiration
I love wildlife photography and although I would love to get a shot of a harvest mouse in the wild I knew this was near impossible. Knowing that, I thought that this would be the best opportunity to get a great shot of one.Editing
This image did not need much post processing at all, it just needed slight straightening and a little croppingIn my camera bag
I always have my canon 77D and my 18-200mm lens as it gives a good range without being too big, I have been able to take some great shots of birds in flight but also some close ups of tiny insectsFeedback
Patience and timing, they’re very fast little things. I specifically wanted one looking directly at the camera, my patience payed off as he peeked through the ears of corn and looked straight at me
