Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on my property in the Catskill Mountains of NY.

Time

It was noon on a bright Spring day.

Lighting

As the sun was overhead, I angled my camera so that light was coming from behind the flower, illuminating the petals.

Equipment

Panasonic DMC-ZS100

Inspiration

My longtime photography project is to document the flora and fauna on my property in the Catskills. I look for outstanding examples in all the seasons. Spring is an especially exciting time as the fields come alive again with foliage and wildflowers. Daisies are among the first to bloom and the Ox-Eye variety are particularly “photogenic.”

Editing

I used Photoshop Elements to crop the image and enhance the brightness and color subtly.

In my camera bag

I take my point and shoot camera which satisfies all my needs without having extra lenses, etc. which may hinder my ability to traverse a sometimes difficult terrain.

Feedback

I would advise those like myself who are relatively new to photography to concentrate on familiar environments and develop a focus of interest. That is what I have tried to do and found it very rewarding.
