Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at home, in my grandparents' bedroom.

Time

It was in the middle of a beautiful day in the spring of 2019.

Lighting

My sister and her husband were visiting at the time and had taken some time to spend with our grandparents.

Equipment

At the time I had only a Sony DSC HX300. It's a cheap camera with a zoom lens, you cannot change lenses on it.

Inspiration

I thought I could never know if this would be the last chance I get to take photos of them, so I took my camera and tried to shoot without anyone noticing. I wanted it to be as genuine as possible. As it turned out, I was right. Shortly after that my grandma was diagnosed with stage four renal cell cancer.

Editing

A little bit of contrast boost and exposure balance, as far as I can remember.

In my camera bag

I now use a Canon Rebel t3i with either a kit lens or a 50mm 1.8.

Feedback

Take photos while people don't know there's a camera. These are their most real faces.
