Location
West Midlands Safari Park in Birmingham.Time
Morning around 10am.Lighting
It was a fairly bright day with lots of shadows.Equipment
Hand held Sony Alpha 700. This was my first DSLR; I really can't recollect what lens it had but definitely not more than 300mm.Inspiration
I have never been good at action shots but the action was happening all around so I figured I had to try.Editing
The background was a bit messy so I used Photoshop Elements to help blur it.In my camera bag
Now a days it's a Nikon D800 with a 28 - 300mm les. As I have a leg that doesn't bend (guess you could say I am slightly disabled) I tend to carry as little as possible - so no tripod! Generally two memory cards and a small Nikon point and shoot in case of difficult angles.Feedback
If you get the chance to take more than one shot then do so. I just find it's a case of try, try, try again to get what you want. I cannot move quickly so I have to decide where I want to be and then stick there - you may not get the shot you were hoping for but you may get something better!
