Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on one of the Danish islands called Fanø. We had never visited the island before, but every year the International kite fliers meeting are held here in June. Camilla (the woman in the picture) has her own online clothing store called C Bloch. and she wanted some delicious photos for her summer collection. So I immediately asked her if we should go to Fanø Island? And so we did. After a full day at the beach with lots of partying, photographs and colors (Kite fliers everywhere - about 5.000 kites!) We went to the small charming town called Nordby. (There are only 3 small towns on the island). And this was the last set of clothes we had to photograph. We were tired and thirsty for a cold beer. It had been 28 degrees that day. And I guess we were getting a little silly too... lol... I found this amazing petroleum colored door and I just had to use it as a background. I think it creates a nice contrast to Camilla.

Time

This portrait was taken around 04:00 pm in full sun .. I must also say; That if you feel like seeing the pictures from the beach / The kite fliers festival! Then take a look at my profile. I have already posted some pictures from the day and there will be many more different and fun pictures on the profile in the near future. From this event.

Lighting

You should not be afraid to photograph in harsh sun. I know there are many photographers who are afraid of it. And you also have to learn where to photograph from - Which angle works best. The fact that Camilla turns her face away from the sun and has the big shadow down in the face (From the hat). Gives a little mystery around the face and you will have to look one extra time at the face to make sure you have not missed anything around her mood.

Equipment

I won a new camera. A Sony 7 Alpha and it's so light compared to my very, very heavy Canon stuff. I love its sharpness and its light weight. It's a luxury I never thought I would become so addicted to. It also makes the colors very vivid. I have become a top fan of this model from Sony and all my new photos from 2021 have been taken with this model out of sheer convenience...

Inspiration

Personally, I love photographing faces. (That's probably the secret to why I've become a portrait photographer..shh... Don't tell anyone) And even though it was full figure pictures I had to photograph this day, I also got many portraits in the closet. Like we say in Denmark. lol...

Editing

I made the image a little darker with an indigo color.

In my camera bag

I don't bring much stuff with me anymore other than the camera. I've got a good routine and do not need a lot of different equipment to take a good picture.

Feedback

If you hear about some exciting events. So plan to visit with your camera in hand and maybe a cute model. You will definitely get some exciting and different pictures. See you out there.
