Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Holland about 1 hour from Amsterdam. My wife & I were vacationing and Amsterdam was one of our stop. Took a tour and we stop at this location. I thought this would be a good composition for a photo & took it.

Time

The photo was taken around mid afternoon. It was a bit cloudy, but still nice.

Lighting

It was a bit cloudy, but still good to take photos.

Equipment

My camera was a Nikon D5100. My lens was a Nikon DX AF S NIKKOR 55 -300mm telephoto 4.5 / 5.6

Inspiration

When I take any photos may it be while travelling or whatever, I always think of my composition and see if this could be a great photo. At this location, this is what I did and this is one of my photos of the Windmills.

Editing

Yes I did do some post processing. Before I took my photography course last January, all my photos were in JPEG. This one was. I did work a bit on the clouds.

In my camera bag

In my bag I had my D5100 which I still have, a wide angle lens, a Nikkon DX AF NIKKOR 18/55mm f:3.5 - 5.6G, and my tripod. Now I also have a Nikon Z7 ii with a 24 - 70mm lens.

Feedback

You need to be patient & look at your composition before to take a photo. You need to tell you "will this photo be a great photo that everyone would love". I know sometime you need to be in a rush. Also, know you camera settings as this will help you a lot especially when the lighting changes.
