Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken from a hot air balloon flying over the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya!
Time
This is by far one of my favourite photos, I took it really early in the morning, sometime around 5-6 AM. Seeing the sun rise over The Mara is truly amazing!
Lighting
Considering the lighting was very soft I could avoid sharp shadows. I love how the colours turned out!
Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D600 and a Nikon 200-500mm F5.6E AF-S ED VR.
Inspiration
I love taking photos in The Mara and I really wanted to see the reserve from a different angle. The impala's golden fur really contrasted the dark green grass and the puddles of water.
Editing
I always try to edit my photos as little as possible! In this case I increased the contrast, vibrance and exposure slightly.
In my camera bag
Except for the camera itself, a Nikon D600, a spare battery and an extra memory card are must haves in my bag, no matter what. When it comes to lenses it all depends on what my plans are for the day. If I'm going to be spending a lot of time on foot I usually bring my Nikkor 24-70mm lens or 24-120mm lens. If I'm going to be spending a lot of time in one place or traveling by car I always bring my Nikon 200-500mm lens as I find it to be a very fun lens to work with.
Feedback
Try photographing your favourite subjects at different times of day and from different angles! If you're like me and enjoy photographing wildlife, I also highly recommend talking to a guide to give you the best chances of capturing what you're looking for!
