Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from Baker Beach, during sunset.

Time

At the end of Golden Hour, beginning sunset. We noticed this dramatic sky whilst driving over Golden Gate Bridge.

Lighting

It was getting darker and I wanted to use a low ISO number, so a Tripod was mandatory.

Equipment

I shot this with my Nikon D850 and a 24-70 2.8 on a Manfrotto travel tripod

Inspiration

We were driving back to San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge, when we noticed that a dramatic sunset was evolving, during golden hour. So we rushed to Baker Beach, with this photo as a result.

Editing

I post-processed this image in Lightroom, using Graduated and Radial masks and some dodging and burning.

In my camera bag

My Nikon D850, a 24-70 and 14-24 2.8, Peak Design Tripod and NiSi filters.

Feedback

Think about the different possibilities when you want to shoot a particular scene. And learn to have patience, I know I have to, before everything falls together for your scene. On the other hand, make sure you are able to anticipate on moments to capture beautiful moments. You can’t plan nature.
