Location
This photo was taken looking towards the Boston Harbor Hotel and North End from the Seaport districtTime
This particular photo is from about an hour and a half after sunset, from blue hour into the night.Lighting
A city skyline provides its own lighting ???? I just had to be patient an willing to capture it all with long exposure.Equipment
I took this photo with my Canon T6i. I was using my Sigma 17-50 mm and this was at f/10 and 25mm at ISO 100. 30 sec exposure stabilized on a tripod.Inspiration
There was a photo group locally who had plans to do a nighttime session at this location, but I was unable to attend. I decided to check it out independently. While I found a beer of good vantage points during the night, this one came right at the end as I was branching out and exploring all of the local details and docks, which allowed me to get the right balance of the elements in the shot - including the leading line of the walkway which I think adds some real value.Editing
I performed minimal edits on this photo such as global adjustments for contrast and vibrancy in LightroomIn my camera bag
My walk around lens is the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8. I like going out at night with my tripod for long exposure shots. But I dabble in a lot of other styles.Feedback
Be comfortable with trial and error, experiencing with small changes. Don't be afraid to take the same picture with small shifts in perspective and keep going until you create one that really has impact.
