Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a waterway boat tour of the canals in Amersfoort, The Netherlands.

Time

I took this photo in the late afternoon.

Lighting

I honestly just got lucky with the lighting.

Equipment

This was shot with an old point and shoot, sorry to disappoint. I was the right place, the right time and the right subject matter.

Inspiration

I absolutely loved the thought of being able to sit at that little table with a cup of coffee, enjoying the view. The double archway, the set up, the aging of the architecture the red door - it was just a perfect image. The perfect composition.

Editing

I did a small amount of post-processing. I added a little more contrast and darkened the exposure slightly to help make the image look a little more mysterious and aged. I really didn't do much though.

In my camera bag

I now carry around a Sony NEX-5r with kit lens and a telephoto lens. I have some filters and a polarizer, a remote and a tripod.

Feedback

Sometimes when you try too hard, or too much at something that isn't meant to be - it just won't be. When you photograph something you have a passion about, really feel your heart thump for - then you know you're on the right track. Not everyone will love what you capture, it matters what you love.
