I took this photo just after sunrise, on a ridge in Stanislaus National Forest just below 8,000 feet. I had climbed the ridge in the dark to watch the sunrise, and was preparing to head back down to my camp when I saw this jagged tree stump glowing vibrantly in the early morning light.
