Yesterday I set up in my bedroom near the window to shoot some elements for some art, but when I started shooting I realized the sun was too high and direct. When I make art, I like to shoot everything with flat natural light as much as I can, because I want to add the dimension myself as I combine the elements. I need a flexible canvas.
Bright, direct light isn’t flexible. I’m sure someone could suggest to me that I could use real lights so I’m never at the mercy of the sun, so I’ll save you the effort: I don’t wanna. I know how to use lights, but that’s not how I make my art. ???? Maybe one day that will change.

I decided to pause my idea and lean into the light, and try to take some self-portraits.

I hope next time you’re faced with a different outcome than you set out for, that you might lean into it a little and see where it takes you.
