I takes good eyes to find shots like this. This is a very good picture. Isn't it fun when nature does the lines and symmetry and we find them?

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken down at our local small lake in Upper Coomera, Qld Australia. Its filled with many different birds to shoot.. I mean take a photo of lol

Time

I shot this in the morning with the sun low at my back.

Lighting

I love the morning light as it lights up the sky for a good reflection in the water. You can see the blue of the sky and the white of some clouds in the water for some contrast.

Equipment

I have a Nikon D7200 and I used my 50-300 Nikon Telephoto Lens on my Tripod. I was at 100 ISO. 105mm f/14 at 1/30 hence the tripod. I used that f stop so the ripples would stay in focus

Inspiration

When I would take my morning walk around the lake the water was like glass. Then I would notice the wake in the water as the ducks would swim around. What I loved was that a small duck could make ripples in the water that would travel almost the whole lake. It made me think of Einsteins theory of every action has a reaction. The main problem I had was to get a single duck by itself with calm water in front of it. It actually took me 3 days of trying to get it. What I did was I saw this duck off by itself. Then I had to get it to come straight at me. So with the help of some duck food (NOT BREAD) I got the ducks attention and as luck would have it he came straight at me and voila, the photo.

Editing

I did very little with just a tad of exposure lightening and a touch of contrast.

In my camera bag

I have a D5300 and my D7200 I only have the kit lens a 55-105 and my 50 -300 telephoto

Feedback

The only thing I can say is this shot took a lot of patience and planning where to shoot from and more patience.
