Amazing! I know we don't get them in the UK, but I have never seen a purple and green one.....perfect sharpness and depth...faultless shot

Great shot. I've taken one myself, but the one I found was green - not as colourful as this!

Behind The Lens

Location
This is a photograph taken in the field in one of my outputs for shooting.
Time
Sometimes we can not choose the time this photo was taken around 12 AM, was not the best time, but it was when het appeared.
Lighting
The golden hour, as sometimes call the "magic hour" light is right after dawn when the sun rises as well as afternoon before the sun goes down, say between the 9hours and 11 am in the morning and 15 at 18 o'clock. The sun is low in the sky and the light is softer at noon in addition to the heat light is very strong. The best time to take photographs is during the golden hour, at this time the light is soft and fuzzy and warm. This type of light produces less contrast and less glare in areas without loosing definition. Sometimes we can not choose when to shoot, this photo was taken very close to the 12 hours of the morning when I saw this Pray Mantis , and I immediately started shooting.
Equipment
For this shot I use my Nikon D60, with my Sigma AF 180mm f/3.5 EX HSM APO macro without tripod, I went right down and this is one of my shots.
Inspiration
I am one of the lucky ones to have a camera and some lenses, and do what I like most, to take photographs, my inspiration comes from wanting to show existing and beautiful things in nature that goes unnoticed to many people, as a nature lover, this genre of photography is a tribute to all things that live in this world.
Editing
I do very little post processing, I did crop to get the best composition, and as always, I adjust contrast and brightness...using photoshop.
In my camera bag
My Nikon D60, a second câmera, a compact from Olympus the VR310, SB600 flash, and macro lenses, the 40mm Micro Nikkor, the 180mm Sigma AF f/3,5 EX HSM APO, extension rings, a 18-135mm Afs Nikkor zoom lens for normal photography, and a tripod.
Feedback
The most important advice is to get down to the level of the subject you are shooting, then the focus needs to be precise and always directed to the eyes, always use a tripod or other support, then take several shots, filling the frame of your camera. Good luck
