Location
This photo was taken from the Santa Trinita bridge in Florence. For a long time, passing by, I wanted to find myself in the situation that I photographed: a canoe that traveled along the center of the Arno river in the direction of Ponte Vecchio. That day, after a bit of waiting, I managed to capture the exact moment.
Time
The photo was taken at 4.46 pm on January 16, 2021 when, crossing the Santa Trinita bridge, the canoe arrived. I thought: maybe finally I can take that shot that I've had in mind for a long time! So it was.
Lighting
The light is totally natural and, despite being winter, it was sufficient to be able to close the aperture to my liking in order to have a depth of field such as to allow me a perfect focus on the bridge in the distance and also on the canoe with the circles that the oars left on the water.
Equipment
For this photo I used my second camera body which in those days was the Nikon D850 equipped with Nikkor 24-70. The ISO is 1250, the aperture is f/14 and the focal length used is 56mm at a shutter speed of 1/100. Shooting freehand.

Inspiration
I have always considered the Ponte Vecchio to be the heart of Florence. The only bridge left standing (with its goldsmith shops that populate it) after the Second World War. The canoe that heads towards that "Heart of Florence" in my imagination is like Cupid's arrow that goes straight to hit the heart of my city.
Editing
I haven't done any post-production other than balancing shadows and lights in camera raw. I don't like post-production because I think a photo should be taken and not constructed. A photo is such if it reflects the reality taken. An exaggerated post-production transforms the photo into an image (perhaps suitable for an advertisement) and does not enhance the work of the photographer. This is my thought in general
In my camera bag
As of today, 2022-26-12 my gear consists of Nikon Z9 and Nikon Z6II. The lenses that accompany me are the classic Nikon triad (14-24; 24-70; 70-200 all f: 2.8). It also adds focal doubler and 85mm 1.4.
Feedback
Advice? Hard to give. A photo comes from your mind and from the desire to carry out a project. It is the mind that wants something. The camera is just a means of trying to represent an idea.
