Behind The Lens

Location

A day after Christmas in the middle of COVID season in the public farm near Esch sur Alzette

Time

Late afternoon on an overcast winter day

Lighting

It is all natural and pretty scarce on a grey winter day. Hence the need for a big aperture.

Equipment

The d800e with the 20 year old 300mm f2.8. Always provides enough light and wonderful bokeh

Inspiration

I looked carefully at the herd and chose 2 interesting faces. Then hovered till I had an opportunity to get him on his own

Editing

Just contrast + exposure and a slight crop in LR. If a nature photo needs much processing something was wrong from the start.

In my camera bag

D4 and/or d800 and an 18mm wide angle, a 24 35 zoom, a macro (180mm) or this lovely 300.

Feedback

Watch your animals , look for the right moment with as little as possible distractions. If there is a fence, you have to make dure it is far enough from your subject and use the largest possible aperture to blur it out
