Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in Erie, CO at a balloon fair in the summer. My boyfriend at the time and I decided to go up there for the fair as a last minuet adventure. It's a cute town and everyone there was so nice.

Time

I don't remember the exact time of day; however, I do remember it was mid day early afternoon

Lighting

I was outside on a sunny, summer day so I was able to use just the sun and no extra lighting

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon Rebel T6 with a 18-55mm lens, no other equipment was needed.

Inspiration

I actually have a habit of walking up to strangers in public and asking them if I can photograph their dog(s), I've been doing it for a couple years now whenever I see a cute dog that I think I could get a good photo of. I really enjoy how most people actually seem excited and some people actually ask me to send them the photos of their dogs that I take. I've ask probably 20 people and I've never been told no. I have gotten some weird looks but I love photographing animals.

Editing

The only post-processing I did was put a monochrome filter on it and I believe I cropped the edges a little

In my camera bag

I'm still in the beginning of my photography adventure so I don't have a lot of equipment in my bag, but currently I keep my canon rebel T6, my 18-55mm lens, my 75-300mm lens, a 50 inch tripod, spare batteries, and a cleaning kit in there.

Feedback

I've tried getting similar photos and I think the most important part is having a dog with clear eyes, and one that will look at the camera. It helps if you have a treat to hold right under the lens and as long as they are well behaved they'll hold still looking at the camera and they also get a treat for being such a good model.
