Kanazawa Castle Park is a park focused around Kanazawa Castle, built in 1583. Kanazawa Castle was used as a residence of the Kaga clan’s Maeda family up until 1869. The area is very large and there are a number of attractions, but among these the most prominent are the Ishikawa-mon which has been preserved in its state as it was back in the Edo Era (1603~1868) when the Maeda family lived here. At the various entrances and gardens around the park, a variety of stone walls in different styles and constructions are found all around the area and so sometimes it is called the "Museum of Stone Walls".
