Location
Photo was taken in a small village in Transylvania, Romania. The same place where I've spent all my summers growing up. I knew every flower and every tree that grew in that place. That is where my passion for photography started.Time
It was a beautiful summer morning, I remember because I woke up determined to find some good poppies shots. So I grabed my camera and went out in the fields.Lighting
This was shot in natural morning light, no tricks.Equipment
At the time I was shooting with a Nikon D90, using the 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 lens. Nothing else was involved.Inspiration
Poppied always fascinated me in how they seem so complex and yet so simple. No two flowers are exactly the same. There is something about the way they move in the wind that makes them look so fragile. I didn't find many poppied that day so this shot was one of the lucky ones, I just loved how they always showed up in groups, never alone.Editing
Nothing noteworthy, I just played with the tones a bit.In my camera bag
I try to travel light. These days I only carry with me my Nikon D7200 camera and the Nikkor 18-140 f/3.5-5.6G ED lens. I prefer a good all-round lens to cover most scenarios when I'm travelling. I find this to be a heavy lens, especially when used for extended periods of time, so I always have my backup Nikon 1 J5 with a 10-30mm lens, especially when shooting outside.Feedback
I like photographing nature, it's almost therapeutic for me, because you can take your time with each shot. I'd say don't hurry and try different angles. Don't get stuck on the first composition that you think it looks good. At the end of the day, it might be that the most unexpected shot it's the one that looks the best. Also, when shooting flowers or plants get down to their level. It adds an interesting perspective, viewers are not used to this point of view. And finally, have some fun with the colours, flowers are great for experimenting with colour contrasts.
