Behind The Lens

Location

Holmes County, Mississippi

Time

This is one of my favorite church photos. My wife is from the area and we travel that way from time to time. It was morning time and the sun was shining through the trees. It was a beautiful time of day for this photo. I could not have asked for a better atmosphere. We were actually looking for another church when SIRI took us down a narrow dirt road. Because it sat back in the woods we drove past it. I caught it out of the corner of my eye and backed up to investigate. What a find she was.

Lighting

The lighting was a bit dark and shady. Fortunately it was taken in the fall so most leaves had fallen, allowing better lighting. I hope to go back when I am in the area again and photograph when the leaves come out.

Equipment

EOS CANON Rebel T3. f/7.1 ISO 100 Shutter 125 Focal Length 4.21

Inspiration

I am a 70 years old. I am enjoying my retirement photographing many things outdoors. I love history and especially historic churches. I am happy to have found this one.

Editing

I did do a slight enhancement on the lighting since it was in the woods.

In my camera bag

I carry my CANON T3, a retractable tripod, a variety of lens, and my wife!

Feedback

My only advice is to keep your eyes open for the unexpected. Even when you are looking for something else, you may find a diamond in the rough.
