A more vertical shot of the same ship as the B&W image, I liked the reflection in this one.

Location
This was taken during a walk around the old harbour area of Barcelona, not far from the Columbus Monument. I was there on holiday and, due to covid restrictions, it was very quiet.Time
This was taken in the early afternoon. Normally the quietest part of the day as the heat can be intense but it was relatively cool for the time of year and had been raining earlier in the day.Lighting
Straightforward natural light. Autumn, so the sun wasn't too high but the bright light allowed the shot to be taken hand-held as I didn't have my tripod with me. The air was very still, thankfully, which meant the water was very calm and gave a great reflection!Equipment
Canon 600D with a Tamron 100-300 lens at 300mm. F5.6 (wide open for the focal length) at ISO100. The zoom and aperture create a shallow depth of field to separate the subject from the background as far as possible.Inspiration
We discovered the ship by accident, walking around the harbour having visited the aquarium (well worth a visit if you're in Barcellona!) and heading for La Rambla. The rest of the harbour was full of modern vessels, good looking in their own way but nowhere near as picturesque. I was drawn to the scene with the trees and clouds behind the vessel.Editing
As with most of my shots, the post-processing was minimal. I shoot in raw to be able to do as much or as little as I want. I use Adobe lightroom. Set the colour and white balances, adjust the levels to a slight S-curve on the graph and that was about it.In my camera bag
It depends on where I'm going and if photography is the primary aim. On this trip I was using a small CADeN Sling camera bag, which is great for carrying around the city but does limit what can be carried. I can fit my EOS 600D in (but without the battery pack I normally have fitted) with 3 lenses (1 attached). I usually carry my canon EFS 10-18mm F4.5-5.6 IS STM as a wide angle lens, Simga 18-125mm f3.8-5.6 DC OS HSM as a general purpose lens and the Tamron 100-300mm F4.5-5.6 that I used for this shot. I would normally have my ESDDI travel tripod as well.Feedback
I came across this ship accidently, so I'd say be aware of things as you travel around. I had to move a fair way away from the subject to get the angle I wanted, so be prepared to check out different angles until you're happy with the shot.
