Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my home on the side yard next to my driveway. I'm a self-taught photographer who is simply having fun in the pure enjoyment of capturing moments as they arise. It was a typical day of getting up early in the morning and getting outside where I would spend the day doing yard work, gardening, and organizing my workshop. As I exited the house embracing my freshly brewed cup of coffee, I took a moment to simply take in the beauty of the sun rising across the soybean fields and decided to explore how the new day's sunray was gleaming through the trees in my yard. I love how the sun casts its beams through tree limbs and thought this particular morning's sunrise shining through was beautiful and so I clicked to save it.

Time

It was around 6:45 am as the sun was still rising from a sleepy night. I had just stepped outside clutching my cup of coffee still sipping in the motivation for another day of hard work around the property.

Lighting

I truly enjoy how the sun casts its beams across the earth, through the clouds, and oftentimes through tree limbs. I was enjoying this particular morning's sunrise and as I walked nearer the edge of my property to get a closer view, I was delighted to see the sun beaming through the tree limbs and instantly felt compelled to capture this moment.

Equipment

Honestly at this time I only have my cell phone's camera and it's my number one tool right now. I am humbled to be able to capture photos that many others have found the same liking and enjoyment of my personal moments caught in a photo.

Inspiration

I find inspiration in all natural raw beauty of the outdoors especially and this particular morning's sunrise contained all the elements that I feel we can so easily take for granted. For example, the sunbeam shining through the branches of the tree and the slow rising over the treetops across the field. It was simply beautiful and persuaded me to take a few minutes to just be there while it rose, gifting me with the time to just breathe and be filled with gratitude.

Editing

No, I did not. Most of my photos remain unaltered and shared just as they are. I like the reality of the photo without changing much at all because I want you to see what I saw right then and there. If I alter it too much, then it's no longer that same moment and experience.

In my camera bag

At this time I only have my cell phone's camera as my only tool and piece of equipment to use but I do rather enjoy the simplicity of its use. I do however wish it would focus better and stop trying to choose the object in which I'm trying to get a close up on for me!!

Feedback

When you feel it, that's the very moment you snap the photo. Try different angles and especially various perspectives such as taking the photo from a point closer to the ground or straight up. I tend to favor these perspectives myself.
