Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my neighborhood in Paris VI, just before the lockdown in March 2020.

Time

It was at the end of the afternoon, where the light is smooth and nice. I've always preferred natural light, everything about it makes the photo and the person in it way more beautiful. There was not much sun because it's a small street but exactly what I wanted.

Lighting

There was not much sun because it's a small street and it was the end of the day. But I was looking for a mysterious and shy feeling while looking at Virna so it was exactly the kind of light I wanted.

Equipment

I used my camera Canon 5d Mark IV with 50 mm lens, nothing more; no flash, no tripod. My camera and natural light: the best.

Inspiration

The objective of the shoot with Virna was to photograph her in her natural parisian lifestyle. Simple and stylish, happy and natural.

Editing

I did the basics in post-processing: lighting, shadow and white balance. I used Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I always pack my 50 mm lens because it's the best to capture almost anything. I also bring my tele objective 70-200 in case I want to shoot something different. I don't normally carry tripods except when I'm away; just in case !

Feedback

I believe in the relationship between the photographer and the model ; if you want your picture to look like you imagined it, you need to create a connection with the person you're shooting and tell her/him what you're looking for. The rest will slide. Also, like I mentioned before, I'm all about natural light and no artificial.
