Location
The photo was taken in Rome the day after the lockdown ended in may 2020. I am a photography enthusiast since I was a child and I love to photograph my city. Rome is one of the most beautiful cities in the world but I also like to discover new perspectives.Time
I've had this shot in mind for a long time. I went to the place on 17th may 2020 immediately after dinner with a very specific purpose, capture the bridge with the light trails of passing cars.Lighting
In my intent the protagonists of this image are the guidelines created by the structure and the lights. For this reason I believe that the predominant aspect in this photo is the composition where the lights entering from the left and crossing the bridge, together with the guardrail starting from the lower right corner, guide the eye towards the escape route.Equipment
For this shot I used a Sony A7 mark 3 with 16-35 GM on a tripod and a remote controller.Inspiration
There is not a particular inspiration on this image. The inspiration is inside of me, I think the inspiration comes from the habit of observing. Inspiration is a continuous training of the eye.Editing
The final image is a photomerge with a post-processing technique called "Mortal Night". It required some shots to cover the entire dynamic range due to high lights and dark shadows and a couple of shots to capture the light trails of cars.In my camera bag
In my backpack they can never be missing my camera body, a wide angle lens, a 50mm and a tele lens, a battery pack, a torch, an umbrella, water and a lot of batteries and memory cards.Feedback
My tips for those who want to take night photos of this type in the city are two. The first is to always go with someone, the second is to study the composition even before the shooting technique.
