Self-portrait. I typically sit with my "leg" off as it's more comfortable.
Natural window light. Camera on tripod, triggered with app on phone (which is hidden behind my body in the shot).
I have been an amputee since 2007 and a photographer since 2009. Through my personal photography projects, I try to share what it's like to be a disabled person. We are under represented in social media, but I believe we should share our voices and normalize disabilities in our greatly diverse world! I hope my photo gives a little insight into my life as an amputee.

I took this photo in my home. I feel that a home setting for a photo like this makes it more personal and, of course, more comfortable!Time
I am most active in the late morning. I get so much energy at that time of day so that certainly helped fuel my motivation for taking this photo!Lighting
The lighting here came from two windows, one on each side of my living room. I appreciated the natural light and the shadows it also provided to help everything pop the way I wanted!Equipment
I had my camera on a tripod above me. I used my phone as a trigger for the photo with a timer so I can get into position.Inspiration

Only a slight amount of post processing done in Lightroom and Photoshop. Some light and color correction, sharpening, and removing distracting spots off of my imperfect floor. In my camera bag
These days I ALWAYS use a 35mm on my Canon 5D Mark IV. I do occasionally bust out my 100mm for macro shots or my 85mm for portraits. I also carry a 24-70mm if I need versatility for events. My strobes are the reliable and affordable Godox brand and I use them as needed!Feedback
Be yourself! Be creative on bringing out what makes you unique. Share your voice and be confident in who you are! Also, have patience when working on self portraits. It can take time to figure out how to best convey your concepts!
