Location
My Viking Ship/Fjord image was taken on a day trip in Flåm Norway, one of the last Norwegian stops in my 7-week Scotland/Norway vacation trip.Time
The time of day was around 3:00 PM, just following an afternoon shower.Lighting
It was a bit overcast that day; a pop-up shower had taken place an hour or two earlier (which I understand is nothing unusual). My intent was to capture the scene just as I experienced it to lock it forever into my memory.Equipment
At the time, I handheld a Nikon COOLPIX L840 camera, with an aperture of f/3.2, an ISO of 125, a shutter speed of 10/6400, & a focal length of 53/10. No other ancillary equipment was used.Inspiration
I was completely overwhelmed with the beauty of Norway; everywhere I turned was another awesome photo opportunity. The Viking ship was sitting off the ground, on a wooden sawhorse platform; I did my best to give the composition as much of an authentic Viking feel as possible.Editing
The only enhancement work I did was to remove some clutter over on the left bank at the water’s edge.In my camera bag
I currently have a Nikon D3500 with an AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55 f/3.5-5.6G VR and an AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300 f/4.5-6.3G ED lenses. I always have my Niko Charger with a Li-ion battery, additional SD cards, lens cleaner, & lens cloths, of course. My most recent addition is a leather hand strap that makes holding my camera much more secure & comfortable.Feedback
Look for photo opportunities everywhere, sometimes even in the most unlikely places. For me, it is all about the angle & the authenticity of the shot. I wanted this shot to look as if some Viking has just dragged his ship upon the shore & was surveying the beauty around him.
