Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in a park in the city of Groningen, in the north of the Netherlands.

Time

It was a sunny day in August, on a Sunday when I was taking a walk in the park.

Lighting

I took advantage of the sunny day and the colour combination (yellow + purple). No extra lighting was used.

Equipment

This was taken with a Macro lens, camera Canon EOS 600D. I used no flash, tripod or other equipment.

Inspiration

During this lockdown and situation, I got back into photography and with travelling being off the table, I decided to capture the beauty in the city. Beauty is everywhere and in everything, and the macro lens can really capture this. The freedom that insects had, to fly away from flower to flower, is what inspired me to take this photo. This was something I was missing at the moment.

Editing

No, not that much. I played a bit with the colours scheme, making the purple and the yellow stand out more.

In my camera bag

My three lenses, the lens ball, the remote control and the filter for long exposure.

Feedback

Getting a macro lens is very rewarding, it takes a lot of patience to get that one good picture, in focus and with the right background. You can also use it everywhere, when we were again in lockdown, I took pictures with my macro lens on the balcony, plants, crayons and other objects.
