Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my vegetable garden. I love finding & photographing small intricate object that nature creates.

Time

Morning or late afternoon light is my preferred time for photos. Not sure which time this was but as there’s no sign of morning dew it may have been late in the day.

Lighting

Twilight times are my favourite and everything in the garden looks so fresh after a good rain fall. The plants strength & colour come alive begging to be photographed.

Equipment

I was playing around with a macro lens, maybe a few extension tubes too.

Inspiration

Discovering the work of nature in its minimalistic world is fascinating. The intricate details that the human eye takes for granted as it looks but doesn’t always see. I like to really see, admire & appreciate it all through the lens.

Editing

Post processing is done minimally, maybe cropping, levelling and slight emphasis on colour.

In my camera bag

I’m a Nikon fan and always carry as little as possible. Cleaning & preparation work on lens is done indoors prior to shooting. My camera carries an 80-300 which gives a great variation for everyday photos. Macro, wide angle, 400 lens plus filters are my go to.

Feedback

Learn to SEE what nature creates, watch for shadows, wind and be patient, don’t rush, don’t be distracted and enjoy the world of nature’s art.
