Park-like forests, forest edges and heaths are typical places to encounter great thrushes. These birds like to forage for food in forest clearings and grasslands. In places where these occur side by side, the great thrush is most numerous. The blackbird-like song - but much louder - consists of short stanzas. Whenever the bird seems to get going, the song is cut off. They sing early in the year, from January and sometimes even December. Great thrushes are shy birds.
