This photo was taken at Mount Rainer National Park and Shows Mount Rainer and Emmons Glacier with cloud cover.Time
One of the things that I love about taking photos, especially nature shots, in black and white is that the time of day becomes a moot point. But this was taken around two in the afternoon and because of the black and white it's pretty hard to tell that the sun was shinning thru that cloud cover.Lighting
One of the things about black and white photography, especially for nature photos, is that you can really pick up details that otherwise might not come thru in a color photograph. Emmons Glacier is beautiful in its stark and jagged points and creases. The black and white contrast makes those details come more into focus.Equipment
My favorite camera, as I am still considered a novice, is my Nikon CoolPix B500. This is the camera that I utilized when I took this picture and its one of the greatest things about the camera in particular as you have so many options when you photograph a subject.Inspiration
I am a nature freak. My husband and i are always out hiking and traveling anywhere where we are as far away from the bustle of city life. I love being able to photograph where we are, not only for the memories of fun times, but to share how I view nature in all it's glory.Editing
The way I look at a photograph is I want to take the shot and not do anything to it afterwards. I may end up taking 50 pictures of the same thing and may get something that I like. And it's been known that I have taken 100 pictures of the same thing and hated every single one.In my camera bag
Batteries, a lens cover, a lens cloth and my camera. I am pretty basic when I travel to areas that I am interested in shooting. And my camera so far has been perfect all by itself.Feedback
Just photograph what you love. Try to capture your subject how you envision it. Take many pictures and don't settle for just one. If you take a photo and it shows you exactly how you envision it, then perfect. I always think that you will have many others who will take pictures of the same subject, but it's just like stories. Many will tell the same story and for each of those people it's their version of the story. Your picture that you take is Your version of your story. Tell it well.
